The West Los Angeles Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated was established at the 46th National Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota. West LA joined an outstanding class of 10 distinguished chartering chapters, growing our organization to 272 chapters nationwide.
When Marion Stubbs Thomas founded Jack and Jill on January 24, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, twenty mothers came together to discuss creating an organization to provide social, cultural and educational
opportunities for their children. Today, these pillars continue to be the hopes and desires of our mother members for our children. 86 years later we continue to hold close our objectives and aims: to create a medium of contact for children which will stimulate growth and development; to provide children constructive educational, cultural, health, recreational and social programs; to aid mothers in learning more about their children by careful study; to seek for all children the same advantages which we desire for our own; and to support all national legislation aimed at bettering the conditions of all children.
